💥 Earthquake Response in Turkey & Syria.

CHECKS IS SWEEPING THE FLOOR

Jack Butcher Launched Check to support earthquake relief in Turkey and Syria.

• Over 16000 people minted Jack Butcher's Checks WV open edition for $8 on Jan. 3rd.

• The project has reached a 2.489 ETH floor, moved over 11,870 ETH (~$19.69M) in volume and spawned countless derivatives.

• Vincent Van Dough's Pepe Checks raised more than 975 ETH ($1.6M) in 24 hours.

• Beeple, Seedphrase, Budweiser and many more have created derivative works of their own.

AHBAP’s $2M RAISE !

Leading the response is Turkish singer Haluk Levent’s charity, Ahbap, which has raised around $2 million in crypto donations on the Avalanche, BSC, and Ethereum blockchains in just 1 day!

The local exchange, Paribu, is also fundraising for two nonprofits assisting in the relief efforts.

Twitter user Haluk Levent has claimed that the addresses have been approved by Turkey’s Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), despite the ban on crypto payments by the Central Bank in April 2021.

MASAK has not yet commented on the matter.

At the time of writing this newsletter, Avalanche’s native token, AVAX, makes up 55.56% of the total donations sent to Ahbap’s cryptocurrency addresses, worth around $1.1 million, as reported by Nansen.

On the other hand, 42.65% of total donations come from stablecoins, such as USDT, USDC, and BUSD, worth around $788,000.

The Avalanche foundation had also pledged $1 million.

Binance’s Interesting $5M Pledge

Binance has also pledged to airdrop $100 in Binance’s native token, BNB, worth around $5 million, to its every Turkish user.

Jokes apart,

The crypto community continues to demonstrate its resilience and its ability to come together to support those in need.

This is just the latest example of how crypto is being used to crowdfund cross-border responses.

As a reminder, last year, the government of Ukraine raised millions of dollars for its war effort using cryptocurrencies.
